Red Coral Island
This is a work that once again demonstrates Leo Brouwer's ability to combine his musical legacy with an innovative vision, in which intertextuality plays a fundamental role. The work is conceived in two parts, the first part contains nods to theAncient manuscript found in a bottle for piano trio (1983) and to the Ballad for flute and strings (1963), while in the second part he very subtly recreates some passages fromWitch blacks have fun for ensemble (1985). The work is dedicated to the Duo Abreu Sisters, who have also actively collaborated in this edition.
