CD Leo Brouwer Essential

Leo Brouwer Esencial, the result of a special limited edition that was given to the guests of the XIII Habano Festival during the opening night of the event. Its protagonists were musicians who frequently take on the work of Maestro Leo Brouwer and others who more recently included this composer in their repertoire.

The CD includes a selection of the Beatlerianas, in a version for guitar and string quartet; Two preludes, for string orchestra, in a version of George Gershwin's originals; a selection of the Ten Sketches for piano, specifically those dedicated to Egberto Gismonti; the version for flute and prerecorded pieces of the Cuban Landscape with Rumba; two numbers of the Sones and danzones for violin, cello and piano; the first of the Elegías Martianas, for flute and piano; and the IV movement of the String Quartet # 3.

The interpreters of these works are the guitarist Víctor Pellegrini together with the Havana String Quartet, the Musci Mundi Chamber Orchestra (conducted by Leo Brouwer), the pianist Harold López-Nussa, the flutist Niurka González, the B3: Brouwer Trío, the Ondina Dúo , and the Havana String Quartet respectively.
