Mythology of the Waters

This Sonata is an imaginary walk through the mythical Amazon of Alejo Carpentier's Los pasos perdidos, the lake of the Mayas and so many waterfalls and enormous waterfalls: Tequendama, Iguazú, El Ángel.... The cascades of sounds that characterise my music since Elogio de la danza (1964) or Per suonare a due (1972) have nothing to do with this vision of the waters; I have never liked to imitate nature in sound - inimitable in itself - but the analogies are the choice of the public, if they find them.
