Leo Brouwer was fascinated by the music of Minoru Miki used as the soundtrack of the Franco-Japanese film The Empire of the Senses (1976) by Nagisa Ôshima, based on a story of love and death that took place in Japan in the 1930s. . Precisely the main theme of the film, The Young Sprout, was covered for guitar by Brouwer five years later with the knowledge of the author.
This edition has been thoroughly revised by Ricardo Gallén, who included new fingerings and articulations.
